About MovingCostLab
MovingCostLab is an independent publisher focused on one thing: what moving actually costs in the United States, with receipts.
Moving quotes are notoriously slippery. Companies advertise starting prices, bury the fees, and change rates by season, route, and day of week. We do the unglamorous work of reading the actual price pages, FAQs, and cost guides the companies publish — then we put the numbers in tables, label each one with its source and date, and show our work.
What we publish
- Brand comparisons — container and truck rental brands compared side by side, with real price tables instead of vibes.
- Firsthand details — the things only people who have actually moved will tell you: the fees that start the day the box lands, the discounts you get by asking, the damage nobody warns you about.
- Practical guides — packing, checklists, and sizing, built the same way: sourced, dated, no filler.
What we won't do
- We don't invent prices. If a company doesn't publish a rate, we say so — we don't fill the gap with a guess.
- We don't present estimates as quotes. Ranges are labeled as ranges.
- We don't take money to rank a company higher. If we ever earn a commission from a link on a page, it's disclosed on that page.
Corrections
Prices change and we make mistakes. If you spot an outdated or wrong number, tell us via the contact page — we fix verified errors and note the correction date.
